About the event
Your heart is the most remarkable organ. Second after second, year after year, decade after decade, it beats for a lifetime, supplying blood to the body to carry out the critical functions that make life, your life, possible. Let’s understand this incredible part of us, so we can look after it better and how it makes our brain and mind work.
In this talk Dr Jonathan Iliff will be talking through the heart, how it works and what it really does and why that matters for mental health. We’ll talk about best practice, from nutrition to exercise. We’ll talk about the value of investigations and examinations - when to be worried, and when not to.
We’ll touch on how we can prevent the worst outcomes, like heart attacks and heart failure, as well as building heart strength for the long term, and why this matters so much for people with mental health problems. We’ll explore how its activity feeds into our emotions and mental health, and how regulating it can help regulate how we feel.
This is the talk for your if you want to understand one of your most vital organs and how it interacts with our mind and brain, we’ll learn how to treat it better, so it treats us better for decades to come.
